On tour in Asia the midfielder was asked which former Arsenal star he would most like to bring back to the club.
The question had Gunners fans contemplating a triumphant return for Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry or perhaps Dennis Bergkamp.
But as far as Oxlade-Chamberlain is concerned there can be only one answer: Nicklas Bendtner.
Bendtner spent nine-years at Arsenal before leaving for Wolfsburg last summer.
The Dane became something of a cult figure at the Emirates despite scoring just 47 goals in 171 appearances for the north London side.
But it still seems a little harsh that he has become the butt of Oxlade-Chamberlain's jokes.
At least, we think he was joking.
